Programme Overview
With a broad range of further training courses in German and English, Training for International Diplomats teaches fundamental knowledge, provides diverse insights into current issues and background on key topics and familiarises international diplomats with the key positions of our foreign policy. In the courses, participants deepen their knowledge in significant areas of modern diplomacy such as climate diplomacy, peacekeeping, human rights, mediation, negotiation training and the rule of law.
The annual course programme is developed in cooperation with the country and specialist divisions at the Federal Foreign Office headquarters in Berlin and the missions abroad around the world. Invitations to participate in the courses come via the German missions abroad, with the Foreign Ministries of the host countries putting forward suitable candidates. Specialist knowledge, position, motivation and good language skills are important selection criteria for us. It is necessary to make a selection as the number of applicants regularly exceeds the number of places available.
Please note that programme offerings may vary from year to year. In addition, new courses are regularly introduced, especially in response to current political developments.
