The International Diplomats Programme (IDP) offers diplomats accredited in Germany a unique opportunity to address central global and regional issues in depth. Over several months, intensive programme days, regional excursions and study trips take place, specially designed to deepen specialist knowledge.
Over the course of the programme, fundamental and current issues are discussed, including international security, climate change, global migration, conflict resolution, energy policy and the role of digital media and social networks.
The programme incorporates visits to political, governmental and international institutions with the opportunity for participants to engage in dialogue with high-ranking decision-makers, academics, leaders from the business sector and representatives from civil society organisations. These talks help broaden participants’ perspectives, deepen their diplomatic understanding and promote cooperation on global challenges.
Excursions to other cities offer valuable insights into regional governance, administration, economic transformation and the role of international institutions. These trips supplement the knowledge acquired through the programme and impart a comprehensive view of international diplomatic issues.
This broad-based programme offers diplomats the chance to expand their networks, obtain new insights into the world of international diplomacy and make an active contribution to global dialogue on the most pressing issues of our time.
