Diplomacy by Networking: Connecting the World

Supporting alumni is an essential part of our networking activities. The alumni network, which has grown steadily since 1992, now has over 4,900 members from 192 countries. Hundreds of them are currently working in the diplomatic missions of their home countries in Germany, many of them as ambassadors. They are valuable contacts for us both at home and abroad. As part of our network-oriented foreign policy, we strive to maintain contact with our alumni even after they have completed their programmes. To this end, we have developed various measures to help us strengthen this international network and intensify the connections within the alumni network: regional meetings abroad, re-invitation initiatives, individual events in Germany, online seminars, German courses as a foreign language and the provision of scholarships for our partner organisations' programmes.
